Legacy Awards

The Foundation pays tribute to individuals and organizations from various fields whose contributions have strengthened our mission. Through a unique series of annual awards, we reinforce our goals to educate people about the many health risks associated with smoking, and to assist people struggling to quit.

Legacy Honors

At this annual fundraising event, the Foundation recognizes exceptional individuals who demonstrate leadership and courage in working toward a tobacco-free world. Funds go directly to Foundation programs.

Community Activist Awards

The Community Activist award recognizes outstanding individuals that are engaged in tobacco control at the community level. Recipients are honored at the yearly Legacy Honors fundraising event held in March.

Tobacco Industry Documents Awards

This awards program recognizes the Outstanding Use of Tobacco Industry Documents. Seven million internal documents from tobacco companies on advertising, manufacturing, marketing, sales, and scientific research were made available to the public in the 1998 Master Settlement Agreement.  The TIDA awards recognize scholars, researches, and others who use tobacco industry documents for the public good. Alma S. Adams Scholarship Awards

These two scholarships are awarded to students for their outstanding community service and use of artistic abilities to increase awareness about the deadly toll of tobacco within underserved communities.  The awards recognize former Board member Alma Adams, a professional artist, educator and North Carolina state legislator.
