Emily Kile

Emily began her youth advocacy at an early age after accompanying her father to a city council meeting where the public addressed the issue of smoke-free workplaces. After observing the proceedings and listening to the testimonies, Emily was inspired and decided to get involved in the tobacco control movement. Since then, Emily has worked to create awareness about the tobacco issue. She is a member of Voice, Indiana’s youth-led movement against Big Tobacco and has testified before the Indiana House of Representatives Public Policy Committee on the issue of comprehensive smoke-free workplace law in the state.

“My two main priorities in the last two years have been educating people about the benefits of a smoke-free workplace and exposing the new Camel Dissolvables,” said Emily. “Sometimes, I look back on all of this and I feel like I have done a lot, but then I realize that there is still so much more that could be done. Being a Youth Activism Fellow will allow me to gain more training, opportunities and resources to expand my mission and my work more effectively at the college level next year.”
