Minority Health and Health Disparities Research

Drs. Thomas Kirchner and Pallavi Patwardhan have established a collaborative relationship with Dr. Lucile Adams-Campbell, Associate Director for Minority Health and Health Disparities Research at Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, aimed at promoting healthy behavior change outcomes among underserved DC residents.  As part of this partnership, the Schroeder Institute and the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities have initiated a series of focus groups designed to better understand the needs and preferences for smoking cessation resources and treatment among underserved DC residents. Gathering this information from DC residents is a critical step toward improving our ability to design and implement culturally sensitive and effective community-based behavior change interventions.  Dr. Kirchner has also been appointed to serve on the Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Community Advisory Board.
