The EX® campaign is about re-learning your life without cigarettes.
Tobacco addiction is complex. It works its way into almost every aspect of your life. Beating that addiction takes re-learning everything you thought you knew about quitting. EX delivers a free plan using proven methods to help you quit successfully. EX shows smokers:
• The importance of identifying your smoking triggers and teaches you how to start dealing with these triggers without cigarettes before you quit;
• The addictive nature of nicotine and how it actually changes your brain so that it’s much more difficult to quit without the aid of nicotine replacement or non-nicotine medication;
• The importance of support from friends and family, whether they are helping you during a rocky period or even just giving you space.
After successful pilot tests, EX was launched nationally in 2008 by the National Alliance for Tobacco Cessation (NATC) http://www.thenatc.org/. The American Legacy Foundation brought together several national organizations and 14 states to form NATC, a growing group of states, non-profit organizations, foundations and corporations all dedicated to helping people quit smoking.
The campaign includes TV, radio, online, out-of-home advertising and BecomeAnEX.org, where you can create your own personalized quit plan, as well as connect to a virtual community to share stories and quit strategies with other quitters.
