truth® tour 2008
Each summer, truth® travels the nation in signature orange truth® “trucks” rigged with DJ decks, video monitors, and e-mail booths to reach and engage youth about tobacco use at popular music and sporting events popular to teens.
truth® “crew members” provide anti-tobacco messages in these youth-oriented settings, engaging in peer-to-peer communication and reaching thousands of teens across the country. In the truth® “zone” surrounding the truth® truck, a fun and engaging atmosphere allows truth® crew members to discuss tobacco issues in a non-preachy way. At each stop, crew members hold fashion shows, dance contests, and freestyle rap “battles”, teach DJ lessons through “Scratch Academy” (a group of DJs who teach school newcomers on the fundamentals of DJ’ing, scratching and mixing music), play games, and distribute truth® “gear” – fashion-forward items like t-shirts, booty shorts and drawstring bags – all containing tobacco-related facts or information.
