American Legacy Foundation is currently searching for energetic individuals for the Summer 2010 Internship Program.
In addition to working with their respective department, students will be exposed to tobacco knowledge, current issues in public health and career development opportunities. The internship duration is May 17, 2010-Aug 13, 2010. Interns are paid $9.75 an hour and are eligible to participate in the program for two semesters.

Ideal candidate is a current student pursuing their undergraduate degree. An interest in public health or tobacco control is a plus. Collaboration and OutreachThe Collaboration and Outreach Intern will work with the Senior Vice President, Collaboration and Outreach on special projects on stakeholder outreach.
DevelopmentProvide day-to-day support for development team, assisting with direct mail programs, gift acknowledgements, preparation for NYC Marathon, funding proposals and other development/fundraising efforts as needed.
Government AffairsThe Government Affairs Intern will support the efforts of Legacy’s outreach with various governmental entities. This internship also provides opportunities to become familiar with the political process including Capitol Hill via hearings, briefings, and delivering materials to Congressional offices.
Information TechnologyThe IT intern's primary responsibility will be to respond to user questions and issues about PC's, and provide Help Desk support. PC support responsibilities will include, but not be limited to installing new and upgrading computers for staff, assisting with staff moves, and resolving hardware and software problems. The intern will also provide project based support in areas of interest to IT.
MarketingThe Marketing team internship will include a comprehensive view of brand and campaign marketing from the client perspective. The selected intern will assist the internal brand marketing team in planning, executing, and measuring all aspects of the integrated marketing plans. This includes television, radio, print, interactive, and grassroots executions. The intern will have self managed projects, administrative duties, and be asked to contribute ideas and feedback for truth® and EX® marketing initiatives. If you can keep up in a fast-paced environment and have a strong interest in marketing and advertising, as well as youth culture then this is an ideal opportunity.
Research and EvaluationThe Research intern will contribute to the work of the foundation and department by assisting in searches for information and data, and by clearly communicating this information to audiences which include youth, other researchers, or the public in general. He or she will be expected to research and respond to requests for information related to tobacco control and public health. The intern will also assist in managing the resources of the department, working with electronic and physical libraries and databases. This position provides assistance for the Teen Video Exposure to Tobacco (TVET) project, an American Legacy Foundation effort which will be conducted in part through grant funding to ERA. The intern will review and provide content coding for selected network and non-network television.
