Anna M. Spriggs

Anna M. Spriggs is American Legacy Foundation’s Vice President of Human Resources. Ms. Spriggs joined the foundation as its second employee in May 1999 and was responsible for developing the administrative and human resource functions of the foundation. Ms. Spriggs played an instrumental part in developing Legacy into the organization it is today. Ms. Spriggs leads efforts in planning, development and implementation of human resources policies and practices. She is responsible for the foundation’s HR strategic planning and delivery in recruitment and retention, benefits, training and development, compensation, legal compliance, employee relations and performance management. Policy development, emergency preparedness and office-wide committees also fall under her leadership. Previously at Legacy, Ms. Spriggs also managed the day to day operations of the office as well as planned and executed several office moves. Ms. Spriggs manages a team of four who assist her in these efforts.
Ms. Spriggs previously worked for the U.S. Department of Justice where she served as office administrator in the Federal Programs Department, managing office affairs for a staff of 150. Prior to assuming that position, Spriggs worked at the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) for 12 years in a variety of capacities, rising to become project manager and continuing legal education administrator. In her managerial position she supervised staff, coordinated training seminars, developed publications, administered grants, and served on several committees to develop policy and procedure for staff.
Ms. Spriggs has her Bachelors degree in Organizational Management and a Masters of Science Administration in Organizational Management and Human Resources from Trinity University in Washington, DC. She has also completed several executive education programs and leadership courses including The Business of Human Resources at the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flager Business School, Emerging Perspectives in Human Resources Certificate and Strategic Persuasion and Talent Acquisition Certificate from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a Certificate in Leadership Coaching from Georgetown University's Center for Continuing and Professional Education. Ms. Spriggs is an active member of the Society of Human Resource Management, ASAE, and Human Resource Association of the National Capital Area. Ms. Spriggs also volunteers with several organizations supporting underserved populations in providing life skills programs.
